Well hey there,
It has been a while since I have been on here but before I start my gift guides and sales post there are so many posts I really have been meaning to write, so that I can look back on. This post about my girl, my baby, starting Kindergarten was way high on the list. Especially since in less than two months she will be 6!
Here goes,
Dear Birdie
You didn't have the easiest start, from wearing a brace on your hips for months that delayed crawling and walking, and your autoimmune disease, the move to NYC that had us away from family anf to lastly a pandemic that landed square in your biggest development years, dang it was so much. But you my girl were the true reflection of FIGHT.
You have always known what you wanted and fought hard to get it, and watching you soar in Kindergarten fills my heart SO much. You are a leader, kind, respectful, you help your friends, make them feel loved and included and truly LOVE learning.
I thought that this transition would be hard for you socially since we have had to limit so much (and at first you hated being away from me, and I hated it too) but look at you go girl, you walk in with confidence and pride that even helps your big sister fibd her groove.
Here is my hope for you Amani Isa, I hope that you always find comfort and safety in our arms, that you always stay true to your joy in including others, that you always feed that hunger of learning new facts and research, that your love for books stays consistent, but most of all that your huge beaming heart is always full of the empathy you have for people, animals and even your stuffies! May you forever dance to your own rythm, find your voice when you need it (you always do!!) and may "home" always bring you the comfort and balance when you need it.
I tell you this often, but if you can just remember one thing, REMEMBER THIS: there is nothing you can do, say, feel, break, meltdown over, dislike, scream about, or cry over, that will make me stop loving you. You are a part of my heart that will forever be one of my favorite things on earth.
I love you Birdie girl, soar high knowing that if/when you fall you will always have a soft landing.
Love Mami.
Te amo muchÃsimo, mas que todo.
